Admittedly, Nils and I are a bit starry-eyed, and even maybe Pollyanna-ish in our hopes of what life will be like in rural South Africa (see "Why South Africa"). To prove that we do have some perspective on what we're getting ourselves into, here are a few of the adjustments we know we'll face.

Some will be tougher than others.

Work

Aerial Annoyances

Fashion Footwear

Rush Hour

Nightlife

Early Morning Wake-ups

Pedestrian Obstacle Courses

And you know what? We're still raring to go! Countdown 15 days til departure!

I'm off to pack another box.

I already have great respect for Andre ! Best wishes…..

I love this… very clever. It fits me too.
BUT I tell you what: we managed to get broadband via satellite onto our farm. When I do wear nice clothes, the bonus is it feels as if I am in PARIS. I still hate that there are snakes and can't get used to it. Love sheep poo, great on the garden. Peak hour… animals are so much nicer than cars and a lot of people, the night sky is breathtaking, the air like … I can't describe it. The sounds of birds, the smell of grass growing and the heartwarming fact that you are helping the world (growing food and wool, planting tree after tree after tree) rather than taking from it.
My admiration of you and Nils knows no bounds.

Thank you, Prue. I know there is so much I could learn from you … in concrete “how tos”, but more importantly, in vision, attitude, and ability to experience so much beauty in things. I hope to find my way.

An adjustment but there is something refreshing in the changes. They will come with a whole new set of hardships but I think the pluses will outweigh them. I'm very excited for you.

    • Corinne says:

Yes, we both agree … some of what we’ll face will certainly be refreshing … definitely challenges, but all around, pretty exciting … we hope! ;-) Thanks for following along.

Wish I was there to help you pack….love all the updates and so look forward to visiting you one day.

LOVE it!  I am especially fond of the pooping cow sign – where can I get one?  I want to warn everyone to beware of pooping cows in my yard.
You two are SO brave and SO lucky – and I cannot wait to virtually share in your adventure!

    • Corinne says:

The pooping cow sign is homemade. Maybe I’ll start marketing them to help pay for this adventure :) .

Hi! I'm Corinne.
After many years of meeting challenges of the corporate world as a (moderately) Type-A city gal, I embark with my DH, Nils, on a completely different adventure in living.
